HUD Awards Flower Mound Home Owners Repair Grants

In an effort to assist home buyers, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is awarding local cities and towns home repair grants through the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). Flower Mound was recently awarded a one time grant of $57,499 to assist home buyers in need with minor home repairs. Flower Mound homeowners are eligible to receive up to $6,000 which does not have to be repaid.
In order to qualify, homeowners in Flower Mound must meet the following requirements:
- Reside within town limits of Town of Flower Mound
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Have owned and occupied the single family home for at least 6 months prior to application
- Be current on all Property Taxes
- Certify that home is primary residence and not being offered for sale
- Property value must not exceed 95% of area median property value (Census Data – $261K x .95 = $247,950)
- Funds requested cannot be used for an item covered by homeowner’s insurance or warranty policy
- Must meet Family Income Limits below:
Eligible Home Repairs:
- Water Heater
- Minor Roof Repair
- Minor Plumbing Repair
- Heating/Air Conditioning Repair/Replacement
- Window and Screen Repair
- Minor Electrical
- Repair/Replace Electrial Panel Boxes
- Repair/Replace/Install handrail, guardrail, porch and step structure, wheelchair ramp
- Replace/Install Weather Stripping and Caulking
- Install Insulation and/or Radiant Barrier
