In May 2005, the NTTA Board
of Directors selected a preliminary design of the bridge, which features a
distinctive tied arch spanning 360 feet at the center with approaches and
thresholds flanked by pairs of lighted columns. Completion of plans,
specifications and estimates on the toll bridge and public hearings for
sections 4-6 and 8 anticipated in early 2006. Design for sections 4-6 is
under way. Denton County broke ground on Section 1, the bridge, on April
20 and construction is underway. Construction on Section 3, the eastern
approach to the bridge, is planned to begin in June.

Lake Lewisville Toll Bridge Construction Contract Awarded
The North Texas Tollway Authority
Board of Directors awarded a $93 million contract last month for
construction of the Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge, which will connect the
Dallas North Tollway in Frisco at Eldorado Parkway to IH-35E at Swisher
Road in Lake Dallas providing commuters a new east-west corridor through
Denton County.
The 1.7-mile bridge, scheduled to open to
traffic in 2009, will provide a vital link for the 13.8-mile corridor,
which is a joint project with Denton County, the NTTA, TxDOT and local
municipalities. The four-lane bridge will be the only tolled portion in
the corridor. It was designed by Turner Collie & Braden, Inc. and will
span the northern arm of the lake.

Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge (LLTB)

The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) is working
cooperatively with Denton County, the Texas Department of Transportation
(TxDOT), the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the cities of Little Elm,
Frisco and Lake Dallas to develop a transportation corridor that
includes a new east-west toll bridge across Lewisville Lake. The
Lewisville Lake Corridor, which will connect IH-35E to the Dallas North
Tollway at Eldorado in Little Elm, is approximately 13.8 miles long and
divided into eight sections. The NTTA is constructing the 1.7-mile
bridge and the communities along the corridor, Denton County and TxDOT
will construct and fund improvements to the existing sections of the
roadway approaching the bridge. The Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge
will feature a lighted, tied arch spanning 360 feet at the center of the
1.7-mile bridge. Approaches and thresholds of the bridge will be flanked
by pairs of lighted columns. Construction of the bridge is expected to
begin in late January or early February 2009. It is anticipated to open
to traffic in spring 2009.
